The Story Behind the Build
Every great guitar has a soul, but the Rogue “Dragon Wings” carries a truly special legacy. This one-of-a-kind masterpiece was born from a unique creative collaboration between myself and my daughter, Kylee. Merging fresh artistic vision with meticulous traditional luthiery, we set out to design an instrument that feels alive.
The centerpiece of the design is the striking, hand-carved “Dragon Wings” body architecture. The aggressive, sweeping curves are deeply carved into the body, offering incredible ergonomic comfort while giving the instrument an imposing, mythical silhouette.
Masterly Tonal Curation & Exotic Woods
For the face of this guitar, we selected a spectacular piece of premium, book-matched Black Walnut Burl. The intricate, swirling figuring of the burl perfectly mirrors the organic contours of the hand-carved wings. This exotic top is paired with a rich, tone-heavy Sapele Mahogany back, providing the ultimate structural and acoustic foundation.
The neck is a rock-solid, boutique 5-piece construction of Bubinga, Roasted Maple, and Walnut, carved to a highly comfortable, familiar ’62 Strat C Shape. It is bolted securely via precision ferrules and capped with a gorgeous Bolivian Rosewood fretboard utilizing a comfortable 12″ radius and ultra-durable Jescar Medium Stainless Steel frets.
Elite Hardware & Electronics
To match its visual prestige, we loaded this Rogue with world-class components. The pairing of a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and a DiMarzio Air Norton in the neck provides a massive tonal palette—capable of everything from crushing high-gain biting leads to warm, jazzy, expressive cleans.
Wiring is strictly top-tier, utilizing
CTS 500k-ohm split shaft pots, an
Orange Drop capacitor, and a
Schaller 5-way Megaswitch (Type M) for versatile coil configurations, routing out of a
Pure Tone Multi-Contact jack for ultimate connection reliability.
Rounding out the build is ultra-stable Hipshot Grip-Lock open tuners, a rock-solid Hipshot fixed bridge for maximized sustain, and Grover Quick Release strap locks.
To maximize the wood’s natural acoustic resonance and give it an effortlessly smooth, organic feel in your hands, the entire instrument is finished in a premium, hand-applied Satin Hard-wax Oil. This isn’t a production line guitar; it is a singular piece of functional art built to be played, showcased, and passed down through generations.
